Have you ever wanted to lose weight, felt the need to look a certain way or tried bizarre health trends to reach that ideal body? Does that sound like you? Yes, then read along ,this blog was written specially for you. If you answered no, then you should read along too.
The World Health Organization defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”. Now you might be thinking what does this have to do with you and health trends. Well the link is that every action you take to change yourself in any way has a direct impact on your health. You may not notice this change immediately but there is always a change. And when you follow bizarre fitness trends and crash diets that promise ideal results it usually results in a negative change. Most people believe that following a strict diet and exercising regularly are the most important things to do, in order to stay healthy and achieve that perfect figure. These are important, yes, but these are secondary to living a completely healthy life.
Eating healthy and exercising most certainly have a correlation with feeling and being healthy and are a necessity, however there many variables that can change this correlation entirely. Here’s an example to understand this better:
Person A: Follows a balanced diet, exercises and meditates regularly never misses a single day. But has a job that does not given them gratification.
Person B: Prime physical health radiates and exudes confidence but they eat only takeouts and processed foods. Have a great job and leads a generally happy life.
So who do you think has a better overall health? Some of you might say that will depend on what your priorities are and what is healthy according to you. But like I stated before the universally accepted definition for health is given by the World health Organization. Who is the healthier, Person A or Person B? The answer my friend is neither. So then what is the missing piece of this health puzzle? The answer lies in the art of balance. Health is like a puzzle, it has many pieces that make it a whole. So it is important to seek balance when seeking health. Because only when you find balance between the primary and secondary aspects of health, will you feel completely healthy and can reach that ideal body.
The primary aspects of health are; relationships you have with yourself and with those around you, your physical activity level, your career and your spiritual practices. Diet is the secondary aspect of health. So to free yourself from the shackles of this rat race of achieving that perfect body or ideal weight, shift your perspective and focus on these primary factors. These are the factors that make you and your life a whole. This is the missing piece in your quest for perfect body.
